OnLAN Messenger is a client-server multi-user application for message and file exchange. This product has been specially developed for use inside corporate networks (enterprise instant messaging), therefore its functions and settings in the first place are oriented on corresponding to the needs of the different level companies for safe, secure, handy and controllable instant messaging solution.
OnLAN Messenger service consists of three program modules:
Server part:
￭ OnLAN Server (server)
￭ OnLAN Monitor (monitor)
Client part:
￭ OnLAN Messenger (client)
OnLAN Server module supports different types of exchange between service clients, organizing access to the database. There are two types of administration: console and web-interface, with ability to separate administrators roles.
OnLAN Monitor module is a support module for OnLAN Server. It starts or stops server (automatically or manually) and provides server recovery if error occurred.
Both of these modules are system services and work in close contact with server computer operating system core. They are installed on the same server computer, therefore monitor is working in "local" mode. You will also be able to monitor the server working from any workstation in the company network in the remote mode.
Client part of OnLAN Messenger service consists of only one module OnLAN Messenger(client). It should be started on every machine that is connected to the messaging service.
Here are some key features of "OnLAN Messenger":
Client features:
* Multilingual interface.
* Information encoding.
* Information compression to decrease network traffic.
* Safe and secure message transport. Message delivery, decoding, and decompression confirmation.
* 100% guarantee of message reading. When you stop service or shut down computer unread message continues to have "unread" status and then appears each time you start messenger until you confirm it.
* Fully adjustable and controllable (local or remote) program functionality and interface.
* Server WEB interface to add a new user or change user's data.
* Client may be fully full-scale or may have limited access (for example, only receiving messages and not sending).
* Messages sending and receiving. There's a multifunctional text editor window with an opportunity to add objects, pictures, and smileys.
* Files sending and receiving (adjustable functionality: no limits, receive or send only).
* Birthday reminder.
* Graphic user status (manually editable) (away, working, busy, etc)
* Graphic user status (automatic, depends on system status). ("Normal" - regular status, "Computer is blocked" - user computer is blocked, "Away" - screensaver is running)
* Sent message status (sent, shown, confirmed)
* Message templates. Templates are easy to add and edit.
* A message can be sent to another user, department, your personal group, or you can make a custom selection from the user list.
* Personal groups. You can create your own personal groups for your comfort and your private purposes. These groups may consist of users and system groups.
* You can send a message only to online users.
* You can send a message to online and offline (all) users. When you send a message to offline users, message is sent to the server. User receives a message when he connects to the server (starts program). Message contains delivery date and time.
* Users context search.
* Fast search and fast sending.
* Auto start program when OS starts.
* Saving separated settings for different program accounts.
* Users cannot exit program. Only administrator can terminate program.
* Balloon tips.
* You can change program account without restarting program.
* Messages history (incoming and ouutgoinng)
* Separated message history for different users.
* System message history.
* Tab organization (My group, All, Online, Personal) for more comfortable access to different users.
* You can send a response or forward a message.
* You don't lose your "input focus" on message receiving. For example, if you write an office document and a message is received, you'll see the message window "on top" but the text, that you had time to input, won't be lost.
* Different levels of indication on message receiving.
* Play sound on message receiving.
* Indicate when more than one messages is received.
* Showing user information (Name, phone, e-mail, occupation, date of birth, etc)
* Showing information about sending process.
* Hide the program icon to the System Tray.
Message server:
* Information encoding
* Information compression to decrease network traffic.
* Secure and safe message transport. Message delivery, decoding, and decompression confirmation.
* Console and WEB-interface for service administration.
* Administratable and controllable WEB-interface. (Fully adjustable administrative module, add new user module, user module)
* Three different types of user identification (Program Database, Active Directory, Novell Directory Service)
* Controllable active user list (blocking/unblocking, history viewing, client closing, system message sending)
* User list management. You can add and delete users, and change user information.
* Policies settings editing. You can create, delete and modify your policies.
* New user request (posted via web interface) list management.
* Department list management.
* License management.
* Web interface active session management. You can send a system message to a web-browser.
* Message history viewing. You can look over users' message histories. There are different groups of messages: sent, waiting for sending, waiting for status sending. You can clear all users' history (or selected users' history only) without informing them.
* Server command history.
* Automatically informing selected administrator about a new registered user.
* You can choose which events to write into the system log file.
* You can set up your own user-check time period.
* You can stop (or start) execution server commands in the queue and disconnect from (or connect to) the database.
Message server monitor:
* Information encoding
* Information compression to decrease network traffic.
* Secure and safe message transport. Message delivery, decoding, and decompression confirmation.
* You can start, stop, or restart message server.
* You can run server self-test (from monitor or from client (via monitor if error occurred)).
* Auto restart messaging service if error occurred.
* Monitor can work as a remote service. You can use it to gather information from the server monitor and send commands to that monitor.
* You can protect the server monitor with the password to enable remote connections.
* You can install and uninstall monitor and messaging services.
